Yellow and Grey Bee Quilt from From My Carolina Home

Last February, at our sleep-at-home retreat, I started making half square triangles for a yellow and grey quilt with bees and honey fabrics. I thought using the less desirable prints in smaller bits would showcase the others nicely. So, I made a bunch of HSTs.

Then I sewed them in pairs, intending to make pinwheel blocks.

At the overnight retreat at Febuary Hill, when I finished the potholders, the top to the Christmas mat, and the bird quilt top, I pulled out the pinwheels to figure out a design to use them. I pinned them on the design board as ...

Helping Hands Scrap Quilt from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

Once a year, our Quilting Bee exchanges blocks for as part of a challenge.  My blocks were monochromatic and a variety of colors.  The sashing is from 1-1/2" strips of black and white scraps and square cornerstones.  It was interesting at best.

My though process .... I threw the blocks on the wall and started playing with variations.  I settled on the black and white strips to even up the size of each block.  The quilt was donated to our Helping Hands Program for children living in temporary settings.

Flexible Patterning Score by Sherri Lynn Wood

My Bee mates and I had a slow year last year. We decided to start this year off with a bit of a prompt for ourselves and totally optional. I got out SLW's book of scores and chose 'flexible patterning'. I picked a shape to work with that I thought would be fun to build on. The letter F. I chose a teal blue on blue color palette added in a fun Marcia Derse print and black and started the process.

Die Modern Cologne BeeQuilter Blöcke in 2020 from Quilt Collection M.

For the ...

To be a Bee - Blöcke in 2020 from Quilt Collection M.

Temenos or Sacred space from Sew Sunshine

"Tremenos" - a greek word
Meaning - temenos (plural temenoi or temene) A piece of land marked off from common uses and assigned as an official domain, especially to a king, chief, or god. A sacred circle where one can be oneself without fear.
This is a Bee quilt. My Beemates were given strange pieces of fabric I cut from sari underskirts.  My sister helped to care for a lady and when she died there were a few leftover saris that her children didn't want and several cotton colored underskirts she had made herself. I really liked the idea of using ...
